Congregation History:

The Congregation of the Passionist Sisters was founded on March 17, 1815, in Florence, Italy, by the Marquise Maria Magdalene Fescobaldi Capponi together with four nuns named Veronica, Jertrudes, Crucifix and Cleofe.

Not until November 7, 1919, did the Passionista Sisters land in Brazil to take care of a shelter for orphan girls.

In the first months they went through difficult times, missing their homes, their families, and they did not adapt to the Brazilian climate, language, food and customs.

In 1920, five candidates for Passionista religious life came from our city, Colombo, Paraná, and then cast their vows on May 3, 1921. They were: Catarina Fiorese, Jacomina Lovato, Maria Bordignon and Maria Busato.

Thus starting the growth of the Passionista Congregation in Brazil.

In 1926, Mother Annunziata Innazi was then elected to coordinate the congregation in our country. At this time, the foundation of the congregation is also held in Curitiba and the following year in Colombo, beginning the history of our Rosario Passionist College.

 Institution History:

The Nossa Senhora do Rosário College (which was not named at the time) was created in 1917 to meet the educational needs of a group of Italian immigrants based in the former Alfredo Chaves nucleus, today the municipality of Colombo.

From 1927 to 1933, when the name of our school was still Educandário Santo Antônio, who coordinated the institution were the caretaker sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. There are no reports of why these sisters left and so the school was closed for a month. In December of the same year, they reached the first Passionist sisters, who remained until November 23, 1933, when, according to Book 2 of the Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary, Sheet 34, they left the school and Columbus, for lack of girls and children. of water.

Once again, Santo Antonio College closed its doors due to the lack of teachers who would be responsible for this establishment. During the year 1934 he remained closed and Columbus without religious sisters. Only in 1935 came the sisters of St. Joseph de Chambery, who remained until 1948.

Once again the school interrupted its activities indefinitely. After three years of abandonment, Father Angelo, Passionist, together with the usual collaboration of immigrants, dedicated himself to the restoration and renovation of the former St. Anthony's College. The site was transformed almost completely, water and electricity were installed in all the premises.

Only on January 6, 1951, at the request of Father Angelo, did the Passionist Sisters return. From this date, the former Santo Antônio College was renamed Educandário Nossa Senhora do Rosário.

Since that time the sisters have always felt very close to the local population, who always supported their tasks, so they established themselves by developing activities and pastoral activities in communion with the local parish.

On March 27, 1951, the School received a visit from the delegate of the State Secretariat of Education and Culture, who made the following report:

"I visited today the Educandário Nossa Senhora do Rosário, in Colombo, under the guidance
of the passionate sisters. Teachers Dinorah Camargo Rocha (Sr. Maria

in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes. Large, airy rooms, electric light, school furniture,
sanitary facilities, water, playground, everything, finally meeting the requirements
modern pedagogical What struck me was Sister's pedagogical competence

intellectual, physical, economic, religious, artistic, social and
moral education .... "
(BOOK No. 2 of the Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary. Book 57 and 58).

At that time the service was only for education up to the 4th grade of elementary school, in the mid-90s, that the institution took the initiative to increase the demand and became a college that meets until today from nursery school to third grade. high school ...

The Passionate student often comes in diapers and leaves with his foot in college or the job market, and that makes our work so rewarding!

As the focus of the Congregation has always been education, to this day, the Passionist College of Our Lady of the Rosary has been doing it in a modern and modern way.

We aim to educate our students to lead a happy and responsible life.

The Passionist sisters have a mission based on the memory of the Passion, having as their excellence their well-developed educational mission, following in the footsteps of founder Maria Madalena Frescobaldi Capponi, who was an educator, wife and mother. This is why the Passionist mission
